Coach Alstork, Davis Speak After Game
The game would start even, but Central State would pull away midway through the first half, stretching the lead to 20 before going into half with big lead (46-28).
However early in the second half, The Eagles would scratch their way back into the game, as Clark State held Central State to only 1 point in the first 6 minutes of the half. They would cut the lead to 12 (48-38) before the the Marauders called a timeout to settle things down.
The lead would shrink to as low as 8, but Clark State wasn't able to get any closer, as their 5-game winning streak came to a end.
Central State size was too much to overcome. Marauders coach Antonio Davis spoke after the game.
"We played well in the first half, but we stunk in the second half. Our inability to score in the first 5 minutes of the second half gave Clark State the opportunity to stay in the game."
Both teams will start regular season games next week.
"I like that the guys fought back in the 2nd half," Eagles coach Quinton Alstork stated. "We have some things we definitely need to work on, but the fight is there."
"There were some upset guys in the locker room. These guys care. We need that intensity heading into the season."
Clark State will open up next Wednesday against O.U. Lancaster while Central State starts its season on Friday against West Alabama.
They will face Wilberforce on the 15th of November (Wednesday) at 7pm.
