Regional Preview: High Profile Coaches Look to Make Moves

The OHSAA Regional Semifinals for football is here and with it comes not only some great programs but great coaches as well.

Here are the remaining teams in the Miami Valley and who they play.

D-1

WAYNE vs TROY

The Warriors defeated Findlay convincingly,  as they rode the offense of Isaiah Thompson and the defense played lights out. They will face Troy, who pulled off a comeback victory against Bradley last week. With two esteemed coaches such as Roosevelt Mukes and Troy Everhart, this will be a big clash as the Trojans find themselves back in a prominent role in the playoffs.

Troy has been resilient all season, but this will be their biggest test yet. Can they stop all the weaponry that Wayne possesses?

Prediction  Wayne 24, Troy 22

Springfield vs Middletown

The Middies have made a splash under 2nd year coach Kali Jones.  Jones is a program ressurector, as he has taken the Middies and turned them into a winning program again, with a prominent offense, especially the passing game and on defense. They were top 3 in the tough GMAC conference

Springfield comes into the tournament playing their best ball, after defeating Springboro for the 2nd time on their field. Springfield, lead by former NFL player Maurice Douglass, has been the representative of the region 3 of the last 4 years. Springfield won the GWOC outright this year.

In a game that will come down to the wire, don't be suprised to see either team come out with a victory.

Prediction: Springfield 20,  Middletown 17 OT

D-2

Harrison vs Trotwood

The Rams throttled Lima Sr last week, running up a 49 spot before halftime before winning 55-12. The Rams are hitting on all cylinders, lead on the sideline by former NFL WR  Jeff Graham and his esteemed staff. Star WR-KR Amari Rogers leads the offense.

Harrison is coming off a well balanced win over Kings, who was a tough opponent in its own right. Harrison won 35-31 in a shootout.

Prediction: Trotwood 30, Harrison 23

D-3

Badin vs Tippecanoe

Badin, who was the GCL champions,

defeated Alter for a 2nd consecutive time this season 35-28. Badin has been the class of the league in the 2020s.

Tippecanoe has been on a roll lately, riding the passing dominance of Larkin Thomas and the running of Xavier Melton,  who had 4 TDs last week. Tippecanoe is ranked Top 3 in the OHSAA D-3 polls.

Prediction: Tippecanoe  27, Badin 24

D-4

CIN HILLS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY  vs VALLEY VIEW

Cin Christian Hills brings their talented team into the Regionals, fresh off a clutch win, while Valley View finds themselves in the Regional Semifinals once again, at home. The Spartans are a tough out, but even tougher at home.

Prediction: Valley View 31, Cin Hills Christian 20

D-5

NORTH UNION VS CARLISLE

Carlisle has taken themselves to new heights with their leading junior QB, who has shattered the passing record at Carlisle. Kolby Morgenson has been unstoppable,  leading the Indians to win after win.

North Union looks to keep their roll going with another big win, as they handled business in the last 2 playoff games and is playing with energy and vigor.

Prediction: Carlisle 24, North Union 20

D-6

TRI-VILLAGE  VS COLDWATER

Tri-Village, new to the football community, is pulling out a season to remember,  after dropping 50+ in the last game. They will host Coldwater, who has been a standard in the OHSAA football championship scene for the last couple of decades.

Can Tri-Village take the next step?

Prediction: Tri-Village 34, Coldwater 33 OT

Can anyone stop the 70+ game winning streak of Marion Local? After the close call a few weeks ago, Marion Local is back to its dominant ways. Fort Recovery pulled out a upset win in the last round.

Can they pull off the upset of the century?

Prediction: Marion Local 37, Fort Recovery 24
