Earl White Selected as Head Football Coach at Chaminade-Julienne

By Deon Cash

After a tumultuous off season for one of the greatest coaches in OHSAA and Dayton HS football history, Earl White just kept his faith and his signature work ethic, and let the rest take care of itself as he has been named the new head football coach of Chaminade-Julienne, per the reports.

White has amassed a incredible career over the course of almost three decades, in which he took Colonel White HS to a State Semifinal Berth.

He has resurrected three schools in the process, the last being Meadowdale HS, accumulating 15 City League Championships and over 125 wins in his City League tenure, showing his dominance and level of excellence for decades.

White took a prideful organization who had been mired in losing, and literally turned it around in one football season; he nearly guided the Lions to a City League championship and the OHSAA playoffs in the process.

However, White couldn’t connect with the new regime at Dayton Public Schools in the last couple of years, and was unceremoniously pushed out the door. He would decide to step down from Meadowdale after the 1st season, which became messy during the end.

During the offseason, White remained patient and hopeful as jobs were filled across the football landscape by Beavercreek (Marcus Colvin), West Carrollton (Chris Mobley), & Meadowdale (Derrick Shepard).

With only 1 high profile job left, it was a question on who would grab the vaunted Chaminade coaching gig after Colvins' unexpected move to Beavercreek.

After a couple of high-profile meetings with C-J officials, former coaches, and esteemed personnel, it was determined that White was the person for the job.

“I am very thankful and blessed for the opportunity to lead the Chaminade-Julienne football program, and I am thankful for all that Dayton Public Schools have done for me over the course of my coaching career.” White would say after his press release.

The Eagles are coming off a .500 season, but have some depth, a passionate fan base and some young talent on the way.

Congrats to a real coaching legend who truly deserves the Eagles opportunity.
