Week 3 Football Recap (MVL & GCL))

Here are the top Headlines of Week 3 in the Miami Valley League

MVL RECAP

Troy Holds off Butler on Thursday Night Lights

Troy was able to hold Butler scoreless in the 1st half, then powered 2 big TDs in the 3rd quarter to fend off Butler, who gave the Trojans all they can handle in front of a packed house.  Aiden Kirpatrick was 6-7 for 137 yards and a TD while star RB Jahari Ward ran for 75 hard earned yards to lead the Trojans to a 3-0 record.

Butler was led by Sam Mitchell, Donovan Crump and Dohnavan Collins as the defense played well in the loss. Butler falls to 1-2.

Xenia Gets Another Victory, Stays Undefeated Against a Game Sidney Squad

Xenia was able to hold off a tough and pesky Sidney team by the score of 28-14.

Gavin McManus had his best game of the season (11-13  with a TD), the running game was unstoppable as Elijah Johnson (157 yds, TD) and Jace Jones (55 yds, TD) made their presence known and the defense of Ronnie Butler and Luke Russell (both had Interception and lead team in tackles) was too much for Sidney.

Julius Spradling was dominant for Sidney as the Bucs could not stop the junior two-way star. He ran for 150 yards and a TD on just 10 carries, and also accounted for 17 tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in the loss.

Fairborn Grabs 1st Victory Over West Carrollton

The Fairborn Skyhawks were able to get a big road win over the West Carrollton Pirates in MVL action. With the win the Skyhawks jump into 2nd place in the division in the MVL at 1-1 while West Carrollton falls to 0-2 in the MVL.

Stebbins Grinds Out Victory Over Piqua

Stebbins was able to use the best game of Devin Mccormick season and a incredible defensive effort of one of its stars to grab their first win of the season against the perennial studs in Piqua 17-14.

Mccormick was 9-13 for 153 yards and 2 TD passes in the win. A late field goal was the difference as Devin Homan knocked the game winner through with less than 2 minutes remaining.

Star LB Lavell Lyles was a absolute beast, amassing 20 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2.5 Tackles for loss in the big win.

Stebbins moves to 1- 1 in league play and 1-2 overall while Piqua falls to 1-2 overall.

Tippecanoe Dominates Greenville

Tippecanoe has seemed to get back on track after losing game one, as they blitzed Greenville 49-0 on the road. Peyton Schultz threw for 203 yards and 3 TDs, with 2 of those going to WR Evan Liette.

Gabe Rammel scored a rushing TD for Greenville in the loss.

Biggest Headline: Fairborn over West Carrollton

Biggest Upset: Stebbins over Piqua

Chaminade Falls to Hartley 21-7

Chaminde fell to Bishop Hartley despite Ethan Stacey running for 105 yards and a TD. The Eagles offense could not get rolling early as Hartley built their lead. Chaminade would score late but it was too little too late as the Eagles fell to 2-1 on the season.

Northland Doubles Up Carroll 34-17

Columbus Northland was able to jump out on Carroll early and force QB Jack Van Meter into some tough throws as Northland won 34-17.
